Wigan Choral Society is an amateur choir and registered charity formed in 1933. We sing large-scale liturgical works, such as Messiah, Elijah, masses, vigils, and requiems, but also folk songs, concert versions of operas, shorter church music, spirituals, songs from the shows, and Christmas carol concerts.
Our performances bring together singers of all backgrounds, united by a love of choral music, and we are always keen to welcome new members who share our passion for singing. Think you might be interested in joining in? Come along to a rehearsal and see how you enjoy it! We meet on Mondays, 7.30-9.30. If you’d like to have a chat first then please get in touch.

Local community
It is important to us that we are part of our local communities and our members generally come across the Wigan and neighbouring boroughs. Every year we join our fellow choral societies from across the country, opening our doors to hold a “Come and Sing” day. These choral events are popular among choral societies and bring singers of all levels together to rehearse and perform a major choral work in a single day or weekend. They provide an opportunity for singers to experience new repertoire, improve their skills, and enjoy communal music-making.
We often hold raffles and provide light refreshments and homemade cakes at our events to support our fundraising efforts.
